Does it matter if discs (dvd or cd ) are store together in one case that holds several hundred ?

Or should they be held in cases that hold fewer? Is there any problem long term in storing a large amount say 500, all together, weight of discs piled together or not enough ventilation? I recently purchased several tv series and I would like to store them safely. thank youDoes it matter if discs (dvd or cd ) are store together in one case that holds several hundred ?
In the days of vinyl records, the best way to store them was horizontaly so the pressuer of the upper ones could keept the lower ones flat.

That being said... I don't see any problem with storing a lot of them together. They are rugged and, unless you scratch them or get them dirty, they are OPTICAL devices so nothing bothers them

I recently finished a 2 year test to see what would happen to a CD and a DVD that I left on the dashboard of my car... after 2 YEARS they played just like they did when new and they were no warped.

Enough for the old wive's tales.
